Lots of patients do not realise that their Dentist is able to provide cosmetic treatments such as anti-wrinkle injections and fillers – and many are very surprised! But if you think about it, who knows the muscles and anatomy of the face and mouth better than a dentist? If you are thinking about having any kind of aesthetic treatments, especially anything that is injected, always visit a medical professional rather than a salon.
How does it work?
Anti-wrinkle injections work by temporarily relaxing select muscles in the face. If the muscles are relaxed the facial movements are not as strong, and so the skin is not constantly creasing.
Think about a piece of paper, if you fold it and then unfold it again you will see a faint line. If you keep folding the paper hundreds and hundreds of times, that fold will get deeper and deeper. Stop folding the paper, and the sheet can begin to regain its original flat surface. Simple!
This treatment can absolutely transform the face and a person’s confidence. Muscle relaxing injections prevent the lip being lifted too high, and so stop the gums showing every time the patient smiles.
Lip fillers change the size and shape of the lips using a material found naturally in the body – collagen. When administered correctly, this can create the perfect balance for the face. Lip fillers are especially popular with some of our Fastbraces patients, who miss the extra boost of the brackets! We prefer a natural approach, gently increasing volume and creating symmetry whilst maintaining a natural appearance.
“Rez firstly did an amazing job sorting my teeth, then began work on my lips which had gone wrong previously! Took all the old filler out and began from scratch, couldn’t be more please with my natural look, wouldn’t let me leave till they was perfect. Couldn’t recommend enough!!! Thankyou Rez x”
